Star Wars

Star Wars (Saga) Collection - 2002-2003

Star Wars celebrated a landmark year in 2002 with the release of the second prequel installment, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and the 25th anniversary of A New Hope in 1977. In conjunction with Episode II's release, Hasbro unveiled a new assortment dubbed simply and befittingly, Star Wars. Unifying the Star Wars brand under one assortment, the packaging features the new but familiar logo of the classic hands with ignited lightsaber set against a blue starry background and a design reminiscent of Kenner's vintage line.

Despite Hasbro's intentions, collectors never accepted the simple Star Wars name, but took to calling this line "Saga", despite the word not appearing at all on the packaging. This has caused much confusion ever since with subsequent lines also using similar names.
